Beethoven-Sonata No. 8 Pathetique Mvt. 2 arr. Landes (SP)-B/V/M/VN/VC/CB - Product Information
The Sonata No. 8 in C minor Op. 13, Pathetique is one of Beethoven's most popular and oft performed piano pieces. The second movement, adagio cantabile, is arguably one of the composers most beautiful and emotionally powerful. I am always searching for classical pieces that lend themselves well to arrangement for percussion. Since 2020 is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth I thought it an opportune time to arrange this incredibly beautiful slow movement for percussion ensemble. The original piano part lends itself very nicely to mallet percussion and my arrangement is for marimba(s), vibraphone, glockenspiel, violin, cello and optional bass. Please see my performance suggestions as they give some flexibility to how the marimba parts can be executed and how best to utilize the string parts. I hope you will enjoy bringing this sublime music of Beethoven into a new light and sharing it with your audiences in an entirely different way.
