Black Swamp Woodblock Mount

Comments:

Not sure if the design has been tweaked since the previous review was posted, but I haven't had the issues described in the previous review. I've mounted it onto a Black Swamp MWB2 medium woodblock and the woodblock sits normally on a flat surface. The mounting hole is now squared off at the back (so it's more like a teardrop shape), so I haven't had issues with it sitting perpendicularly to the rod when mounted. Happy with the purchase.

Could Be Better

Comments:

The Woodblock Multiclamp Mount Kit from Black Swamp is.. alright. I've had mine for about 2 years and it served the purpose it needed to, but there are a couple things I'd like to address. If you still want to place your woodblock on a trap table/play it unmounted, be sure you remove the eyebolt, washer, and wingnut; otherwise the block will tip backwards (unless it's attached to a large woodblock). Now for the criticism: the eyebolt and the mounting hole are too circular to the point where the block will tilt a little bit down to the right when tightened. Compare this to LP mounts, where the eyebolt is octagonal and the mounting hole is shaped like a diamond, and this design choice leaves very little opportunity for the bell/block to tilt when tightened. Even if that's not the case, where these designs don't actually affect the way the block is tightened, the mounts just don't line up perpendicularly to the rod they are mounted on w/o the blocks. If you have this problem and want to try re-drilling the holes in your block(s), you need to know what you're doing when you fill the holes; I used standard wood filler you can get at a hardware store and any slight bumps along the surface when the filler hardens makes it impossible to drill straight. You could sand over the re-filled holes but at the expense of most likely ruining the woodblock's finish. I'd also suggest adding more drilling templates on the printed instructions in the event that the consumer wants to re-drill the holes.

Works great

Comments:

This is a great mount from Black Swamp Percussion and works flawlessly with my woodblock. It is also the only mount from Black Swamp that isn't severely overpriced.
