Comments:

I play a 38'' Paiste planet and this is my first professional mallet. It really opens up the metal and all its frequencies. My only reason for a 4 is it does seem a bit heavy for long periods of play. I love the quality and workmanship of the chalklin, I will have to give the smaller sizes a try at some point. I avoided the paiste because of the price, and the chalklin wasn't much cheaper but I now realize these really are very well made mallet built to last almost a lifetime if taken care of. Peace.

Chalklin TT-3

Comments:

Well I play a 38" Planet and have tinkered around with some other mallets looking for that special something to ignite the paiste beast. This is my first professional mallet I have used and all I can say is I really like it. May be a bit heavy for some, but I'm comfortable with that. It taps gently and softly but really opens up the highs with a little patience. A win for chalklin.

A Good Mallet

Comments:

Works nicely on my 34" gong with a big head to provide lots of contact and allowing a full, deep sound. The weight is kind of in the middle: there are heavier (e.g. Meinl) and lighter (e.g. Paiste, Vic Firth) mallets with this much size. Balance is nice, especially for those long repeats.
