Weiss Imported Indian Damroo - Product Information
A Damroo or sometimes called a monkey drum features an hourglass shaped wooden shell both ends of which have natural skin heads, bamboo rings form the hoop through which cotton cords pass across the body of the drum and hold both the heads in place. Two cotton strings knotted at the free end are tied at the constricted part of the body, the player holds the instrument at the waist and jerks it. This action makes the knots strike the head producing the sound. Pressing or loosening the cords at the centre produces different rhythms and pitch.
