This mushroom-shaped stick is very powerful and punchy. It can be used as a general beater, but is especially well suited to passages that require volume and clarity like Rite of Spring (11/4 bar and the end), Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet and Shostakovich 11.
The DragonFly Percussion “Urethane Series” bass drum sticks are a punchy, powerful set of mallets. The urethane core is much heavier than wood, making it a top-heavy stick. The result is excellent articulation and projection without sacrificing low frequencies. The fleece covering minimizes contact “tick”, without losing clarity. These are an updated version of a former Dragonfly bass drum mallet that used a skateboard wheel core. All mallets are 15″ in length on a 7/8″ maple handle.
