Kopetzki-Concerto for Marimba (StS)-M/Strings - Product Information
This perfectly sized study score of Eckhard Kopetzki's Concerto for Marimba fits the bill for anyone interested in this piece. A full score (piano reduction) and separate marimba part are also available.
"The Concerto for Marimba and Strings, dedicated to Katarzyna Mycka and written in 1999, places the main emphasis on the many fold possibilities of the marimba. It is therefore a typical solo concerto with a cadenza in the first movement and another cadenza at the end of the last movement accompanied by the orchestra. Both cadenzas allow the soloist to display her virtuosity.
Between two outer movements are a slow, elegiac second and a scherzo. The minor 3rd is the dominant in the second movement, while the major 3rd dominates the third movement. All the movements develop out of one note respectively.
I tried to combine an impressionistic language with rhythm and the joy of playing." - Eckhard Kopetzki (from the liner notes of Katarzyna Mycka's CD Marimba Concerto)
