Evans EC2 SST Coated Drum Head

Honestly, I'm not really a fan, and I wish I didn't try something new. I wanted a fat, warm sound without being thumpy. I spoke to someone at a local store and he had suggested these, so I went for it. I've found that if you tune them mid/high there is a very plasticy sound which I really didn't want to hear (In this instance the description is not correct in that it did not bring out the lows of the drum). I tried tuning them a bit lower, but then there was very little rebound from the head making articulation a bit tricky. I replaced the bottom 1 ply clear head with a 1 ply coated head I had lying around and that seemed to help the warmth a bit, but still don't really like the head very much. I wouldn't recommend it. My kit is a Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz, and I play a little bit of everything on it (rock, jazz, musical theater, funk). Great value and sounding kit, but not with these heads.
