Evans EC2 SST Marching Tenor Drum Head - Product Information

Evans EC2S Marching Tenor drumheads were designed specifically for use with marching quads/tenors. Known as the Evans MEC2S, these heads feature a specially designed hoop profile that was engineered to withstand the tension and durability requirements of the marching activity.

Evans Sound Shaping Technology (SST) controls overtones and allows the fundamental pitch to cut through. This focused sound is becoming increasingly popular in both indoor and outdoor marching environments. Two identical plies of 7mil film provide pronounced attack, durability and optimal resonance that projects well on the field.

Evans EC2 SST Marching Tenor Head Features:

  • Specially designed hoop profile to withstand high tension (MEC2S)
  • Evans SST™ controls overtones for a focused sound
  • Two plies of 7mil film for 14mil strength and durability

Excellent, resonant sound

Comments:

I love these heads. They ring like a tenor head should, but not so much that the overtones are annoying. The price is great for what you get.

They're durable... if you tune them right

Comments:

Fact is, most people don't know how to tune tenors. When they're tuned low, the head deforms easier, and when they deform beyond a certain tolerance, the head gets dented. Dent it a few times, and it sounds dead. Then it breaks completely. Tune tenors in the right range, and that kind of deformation doesn't happen. These heads will outlast most other tenor heads out there. Our tenorline has used Evans MX frost, Evans system blue, Remo emperor suede, and remo emperor renaissance. This head tops them all in durability. If you don't have experience tuning tenors, try using a tuner. I do not recommend going below this tuning: (drum 4-spock): E G A C (E) A.

Good but could be better

Comments:

I like these heads. My drumline has used them for a few years now. They're good for more modern shows and being tuned high but I don't suggest then for more Latin-esque shows. The heads just don't hold up when tuned lower.

No Accents

Comments:

These sound great, and they're great for drumlines that never raise their heights above 6". Otherwise they will last about 5-8 hours and then break.

Good Sound, Not Durable

Comments:

Put these on the tenors at the high school I teach. I loved the sound of them but 2 heads were broken within 2 weeks. I really wish these were more durable.
