Plays Like Regular Durable Like None

Comments:

As for durability, I guess I won't know if the head stands the test of time until much much later. I put it on a worship band drumset for the heavy hitter that uses it. Slapped on a Remo kevlar patch where the beater hits. Nothing about this 20mil head seems much different than a 10mil EMAD. It sounds the same, feels the same, but again, durability will prove itself in due time.

Great Head

Comments:

To begin, I'm a DIEHARD Remo fan. I can't stand almost any Evans heads (and may even recommend an Aquarian SuperKick or Remo Powerstroke over this head). But for what it is, this head sounds AMAZING. It is a 2-ply with muffling, very durable, short, and deep (So if you like REALLY resonant, ringing, jazzy heads, go for a 1-ply). I play an EMAD Heavyweight on the kit at my school, a Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz with an 18" Bass Drum. The low end I can get from that 18" Bass is pretty unbelievable, thanks to this head. I tune the batter fairly low and the rezo quite low, but the muffling cleans and shortens the sound, so there is a powerful BWUMP sound instead of a ringing, rattling, or weak/thudding attack. The projection is there, but tone stays uncompromised. Basically: It sounds good! Plus, it tunes up pretty easy. So, branding quarries aside, this is a very good option.
