These Gibraltar Steel Power Hoops come in either 2.3 mm or 3 mm. The 3mm hoops are triple-flanged which are great for the player looking for hoops similar to the thickness of die-cast hoops. The triple flanged flare outward protecting and extending stick life as well as allowing for more drum resonation. Available in all sizes ranging from 8 inch. to 18 inch.
The 2.3 mm Hoops offer the tiniest bit of flexibility which allows for easier tuning.
The hoop is good. It's a hoop. But, customer service is outstanding. It was shipped supper fast. There was a slight problem with shipping (not Steve Weiss fault). When I called they immediately took care of it. I was very impressed.

When I replace drum heads, I use a glass top table that I know is quite flat. I noticed the original, poorly made, snare hoops were fairly warped. Gibraltar makes very solid replacement drum parts, so I purchased these. The drum is now far more solid and the sound improvement is very clear!

Gibraltar 2.3mm power hoop

I purchased these hoops (12" 6 lug, 14" 6 lug) to replace the stock hoops offered on the Tama Silverstar. they are a bit more rigid than the stock 1.6mm hoop. this offers better tonal quality and even tuning tension on the head. Most drummers prefer the power hoop over the die cast hoop as some may feel that die cast chokes the drum. 2 of my 4 kits have power hoops and they sound great. I can hear and feel a noticeable difference. I also used the same Gibraltar power hoops (12, 13, 16) on an older Tama Swingstar with great results.
