¡Higuita! is a short encore for marimba quartet to be played on one 5 octave marimba. Composed for the british percussion quartet 4-MALITY by Stephen Whibley (BBC Concert Orchestra percussionist), it takes inspirations form a television documentary about the former Colombian goalkeeper, Rene Higuita, and his crazy shenanigans!Rene Higuita is best known for creating the scorpion kick, his mad antics at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and for his run-ins with the law.
¡Higuita! is a mad-fast guaracha which aims to capture the entertaining exxentricities of the ex-footballer nicknamed 'El Loco' ("The Madman"). This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes a CD-Rom containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing.
