Innovative IPGTX Timpani and Xylo/Bell Combo Mallets

I actually purchased these for a concert band piece where the Percussion part called for a single player to perform on both floor tom and brake drum. This Combo Mallet has exceeded my every expectation.

Nicely designed mallets, however, the dowel section on one mallet leading to the bell ball is longer than the other, making the over all length of the mallets different. Is this a new innovation, designed for players with one arm shorter than the other, or just an oops!?

These work OK when you absolutely need to change very quickly, but neither mallet is very good for the price. The timpani mallet heads have no spring to them, and the bell mallet end doesn't give a good ringing sound on the bells, sounds really clunky .
