The James Ancona series is designed specifically for use in both indoor and outdoor marching ensembles. Jims mallets introduce a new dowel, sealed with a unique finish for improved grip during playing. Designed to complement our other keyboard mallets used in marching situations, these new mallets will offer darker, warmer sound choices and a different feel for the marching keyboard percussionist.

We got 2 pairs for each marimba in our front ensemble last year at the end of marching season, and at least 8 of them have come unraveled. All these type of mallets from previous years are better, so I guess they switched to a lower quality yarn or process

I have to say, I love these mallets. My teacher asked me to get them for Marching Band last year. I love the sounds I can get with these. The reason I made a review right now, is because I broke one. I guess its what happens, but it was my first broken mallet!! I didn't think I was playing that loud!!
