Innovative BR1 Light Plastic Retractable Brushes - Product Information

The Innovative Percussion retractable brushes feature a durable plastic housing with no pull-rod to bend or jam.

Both retractable brushes feature light flexible (blue) and medium stiff (natural) bristles for different playing styles and sound possibilities. The medium stiff bristles are also available in a wood handle model, along with the BR-4 wood handle model which features heavy extra stiff bristles (black) for increased projection and articulation. All of the wood handle models are constructed of our heartwood hickory shafts and feature our unique and innovative fulcrum notched design for great feel and balance. The nylon bundle sticks feature a nylon grip and adjustable nylon sleeve to create numerous sound and articulation possibilities. The "CAPS" are a unique new product, similar to the bundle sticks, but features the "fulcrum notched" wood handle and extra heavy nylon bristles with brass caps on the end for incredible articulation and projection.

Very nice alternative to traditional wire brushes

Comments:

I've always had trouble with excessive wear on Remo Fiberskyn heads from wire brushes but I love the tone so I wanted to try a nylon bristle brush. I've been pleased with Innovative Percussion sticks so I gave these a try. The bristles are quite softer (in stiffness) than wire brushes but they draw plenty of sound from the Fiberskyn head and there are no snags in the head's coating so far (about a month of daily use). Also they seem to smooth out the left hand sweep pattern; I've always played matched grip and the left hand brush sweep pattern on swing or ballads has always been a challenge so I'm doubly pleased with the brushes.

Innovative plastic brushes

Comments:

The brushes would not hold the extended position, or anything played in a lower volume/sensitivity. I cannot use them!

Great Plastic Brushes

Comments:

I play with brushes quite a bit and tend to shred through any wire brushes that I can find. I got these to use for rehearsals and other times that sound quality isn't a huge deal to take some strain off of my wire brush stash. As it turns out, I actually prefer the sound and feel of these brushes to their wire counterparts. I've used them for a couple of recorded live gigs and they sound very realistic on the recordings, and seem to cut through more easily than wire brushes. Will be buying a few more pair because I'm sure to wear these out eventually from a ton of use!
