Comments:

I was recommended these mallets from a friend who had used them in their drum corps days, but found them to be less suitable for high school groups. I had to ensembles try them and both had brought them back to me either broken in half or with the tip shattered after a week or so. There was some steps taken on my side as an instructor to teach the students not to play so hard with the mallets but after purchasing more, I found that the design of the mallet is not as sturdy for high school students. I do love the way they sound and found them to be enjoyable for my playing but as an instructor I would recommended something built a little stronger.

Easy to break

Comments:

An alright tenor stick, but overall it's rather easy to break. This past marching season I didn't play that hard on the drums-- in fact I was asked to play louder-- but in the end the nylon bead for one of my sticks loosened up. It plays with a dead sound now-- not desirable at all-- and they could be a lot better, i'd say. Enjoyed them overall though, not a bad stick.

Multi-Stick or Bust

Comments:

I've had experience with these sticks after liking the multi-stick version, I bought the single stick to much disappointment. They get a 2 in my opinion not because of how they play but how they felt, the screw on these sticks is by far the worst I've come across in the IP line, it's probably due to the completely round bead rather than the process in which it's connected to the shaft, see Tim Jackson's stick - they work just fine. These have a unique rebound that will take some getting used to, all in all they feel much more solid with the felt on the butt end, if you want a good nylon tipped stick from IP go with the TJ/TJ2 or even the AT1/2's are better as a single stick, as a multi-stick the TS2-M aren't as good as the AT2-M/FS2-M based on sheer performance and feel. cheers, Jonathan

No

Comments:

I used these for 2 years marching indoor and I'm not a big fan of these sticks. The nylon tip usually pops off the first day of use and gluing it back on doesn't help
