Thirty Studies for Timpani by Jacques Delecluse are split into 3 separate books that have been carefully graded. This is Volume 1 of the series. Each book contains 10 studies. They are built on technical examples, particularly chosen to this effect and adjusted to each single problem. A good knowledge of rhythm will be essential for obtaining the highest benefit from these studies in which metronomic tempi and other additional direction shall be observed with the greatest attention.

The 1st book is meant for students who just started learning the technicalities of the instrument. The knowledge acquired in this book will be developed with new rhythms in the 2nd. The 3rd book will suit those students who already have an excellent command of rhythms and the technical problems by examples and they should not be tried before the first two books are thoroughly mastered since they are actually are a recapitulation on a higher technical level.
