Nice Mallets

Comments:

I have two pairs of the JG/Herbert mallets, and two pairs of Herbert mallets I bought in NYC about 20 years ago. The older mallets have a much better construction with some added details: end caps, cleaner stitching, etc. I use them all. Well balanced weight and comfortable to use. Very good with the smaller orchestra and brass group gigs I do in Duke University Chapel. I will say that the shafts, when clicked together, emit a clave-like sound that can be a little troublesome when you are trying to pick them up during a quiet passage. Caution advised, or else muffle them by wrapping some tape around the base.

DH3's - Great but...

Comments:

I love these mallets. I also have the DH1's and both pairs have served me very well in both wind ensemble and orchestra. However, something broke within the shafts of both pairs, and rattles every time I use them, and now I can't use them. They are wonderful, I just wish I could afford new pairs.
