Jitterbug/Ballad by Chris Roze is a duet written for 4.3-octave marimba and a number of other instruments. Versions of this piece include duet for marimba and clarinet, duet for marimba and saxophone, and duet for marimba and violin. The original version (for saxophone and marimba) was the 2nd place winner of the PAS Composition Contest in 2001. This ten minute piece is rhythmically vibrant and borrows heavily from jazz influences throughout with wonderful interplay between the instruments. Both players get an equally challenging workout!
