In addition to a wide tempo range, rhythmic patterns and beats all contribute to the educational value of the MA2. Tap tempo and built in foldout stand are included!

Gives a basic click, although could be louder. Unlike a phone app, there's no latency when pressing the go button. So that's good. Only real negative is no light flashes with the click. The oscillating pendulum image is nice but not at all like the old mechanical ones would be, which click right at the center, not at either end. But small enough for trips.

I stand by my earlier comment that this is the best deal in metronomes out there. But I mentioned $150 as the cutoff point for fuller-featured devices, and that was wrong. The Tama Rhythm Watch comes in under $85, and for $20 more you can get the mounting hardware to hang it off any stand. So if you want programmable features and memory storage, go with that one. But for general practice, the MA-2 is your best buddy.

I've used a LOT of different metronomes over the years, starting with the classic Boss DB-88, which is still the best ever made, but sadly not available anymore, so... Unless you need a combo tuner/metronome, or the ability to program tempo changes that happen on the fly, this is THE BEST option out there. Everything else in its price range is too quiet, too fragile, or lacks necessary features. Most of the more expensive options offer nothing this one can't do too. You don't get to the level of any that add value until you get in the $150-and-up range, and even some of those are not very durable, in my experience (I'm not one to beat up my gear). You won't regret having one of these.
