Koshinski: Two: A Collection of Concert Pieces for Two-mallet Marimba Solo (Online Audio Access Included) - Product Information

Gene Koshinski's new book and collection of pieces is the book that he has always wanted to write. It is a comprehensive guide to two-mallet marimba playing, and collection of ten wonderful compositions. In part one - Foundation - he provides a solid, foundational approach to two-mallet playing, that has a ton of good, practical, and well thought out advice, as well as a sound-based approach that is exactly what you should want your students to learn and know. In part two - Repertoire - there are ten fascinating compositions. We recommend you listen to all of them before you read a word of section one, close your eyes, open your ears, and concentrate on the fact that you are hearing some amazingly varied and expressive marimba music played on a beautiful sounding marimba by a great musician. Then remind yourself that it was all played with ONLY two mallets.

There is great information and music here for many different levels of players. We will personally enjoy getting to know this book and the music of Gene Koshinski for many, many years.

Outstanding

Comments:

Two is the best collection of advanced 2-mallet solos of the past several decades. These are creative, virtuosic and the thorough and well-written introduction section brings back the importance of why 2-mallet playing is still fundamental in marimba/keyboard percussion pedagogy.

Must have!

Comments:

I have ordered many technique books that include repertoire. This has to be one of my favorites. Technique is well explained and the pieces by Gene Koshinski are amazing! Would recommend to anyone looking for harder literature.
