Lacerda-Brazilian Instruments and Rhythms vol. 2 (DVD) - Product Information
Focused on percussion, Vina Lacerda's "Brazilian Instruments and Rhythms" comprises a didactic booklet and DVD, presenting a series of instruments, its characteristic rhythmic patterns and its applications within the musical ensemble. This volume discusses instruments and rhythms found in the musical universe of northeast Brazil connected to "forró" parties. In this material, we work on essential rhythmic cells of zabumba drums, triangles, agogo bell and "pandeiro" tambourine as applied in "baião", "xote", "arrasta-pé", "xaxado" and "forró". Each percussion instrument is shown separately and in mosaic, helping the student in understanding and executing the rhythms. Furthermore, the material brings musical themes played by a "grupo regional de choro e sanfona" (accordion), an indispensable instrument to the musical styles in question. With more than 50 videos, music sheets, texts with historical information, techniques and curiosities, this material is yet another source for the study, practice and apprenticeship of Brazilian music.
