Initially the lowest temple block was practically the same pitch as its neighbor. By *extensive* filing with a wood rasp, the pitch was barely lowered enough reach a semitone difference. By the time that was corrected, the highest block lowered in pitch enough to be practically the same as its neighbor. There is no way to raise the pitch that I know of. I am settling for a 4 piece set. 4 out 5 ain't bad - but it is barely good enough. Another "traditional" percussion item goes extinct. I doubt they return.

Absolutely a true wooden sound and you can play them without worrying about the red paint chipping off. I wish they came with two mallets instead of one.
