Malletech Hinger PC1M Aluminum Medium Timpani Mallets - Green - Product Information

The patented weight system on aluminum handles allows the performer to instantly adjust the feel, balance, and sound characteristics of the mallet. Sliding the weights forward produces the fundamental tone response of a much heavier stick. The 5/8″, thin-wall aluminum shaft has the lightness of a bamboo handle, the stiffness of a hardwood handle and the consistency pair-to-pair that only a man-made product can achieve.

These mallets incorporate some of Fred Hinger’s patented design features which set them apart from any other mallets on the market today. The felt is glued onto the mallet heads instead of sewn. This significant improvement over the “parachute style” sewn head eliminates any air pockets that might cause the mallet to slap. It also prevents the uneven bunching up of felt near the stitches.

Throughout his long distinguished career, Fred Hinger served as timpanist with both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City. He was one of the most innovative players, teachers and product designers in the history of percussion. His students hold positions in major orchestras, chamber groups and teaching positions around the world.

Malletch hinger PC1M Aluminum Medium Timpani

Comments:

I bought these especially for Pines of Rome. Excellent response and when it comes time for the FFF portion they produce excellent sound without fear of breaking. They are much longer than any previous mallets I have used but if you have a need for sustained FFF these are the mallets you need.

Comments:

I really like these mallets. They feel great in your hands. The rebound is quick and the grips feel good too. You get a big, deep sound with these mallets, which is sort of why I give them a 4. I was expecting something a little bit harder for a "medium" stick, especially when comparing them to the original Touch-Tone medium mallets. But with that said, they are great sticks. I would recommend to anyone looking to get a nice, full sound. And honestly the price isn't too bad for how good they sound and feel.
