Nice Sound

Comments:

Malletech makes the best mallets and the LS15's sound really good on rosewood. These mallets are definitely light and smooth. It is still a struggle getting use to the handles but overall these mallets are the best general mallets out right now.

Good Feel OK Sound

Comments:

These mallets when I first got them felt really good to play with. The light feel really helps especially with 4 mallet marimba especially fast scale/chromatic runs using the stevens grip. As far as sound quality is concerned, the lightness of these mallets lose a lot of their tonal depth in order to achieve the lighter feel. They are multi tonal meaning that they are full and warm at low dynamic levels and bright and cutting at louder dynamic levels. On kelon marimbas, they have a weak thin sound and are really only good for practice, however on rosewood (and I'd assume paduak as well, I haven't tried) they speak surprisingly nicely and gain a good amount of depth back. Personally, I would only use these for practice and only perform with them if I would be performing on a wood marimba.
