Mapex Quantum Marching Snare Drum - 14x12 - Product Information

The Mapex Quantum Marching Snare Drum accommodates all head types and remains full, open, and sensitive at all levels of tension. Wood reinforcing rings on the bottom bearing edge ensure structural integrity and roundness of shell when using woven fiber bottom snare heads. The metal lug stabilizers attached to the lug tubes retain proper alignment while also transmitting additional vibration from the top casting down the lower part of the shell for enhanced sensitivity. All threaded lug inserts are stainless steel to provide smooth tuning for years to come.

So I bought one of these drums in the blue pearl finish when they were being sold with a snare stand. It has not even been 6 months yet and my shell has already gone out of round. I am attempting to find ways to fix this problem as I really don't want to have to buy a new snare drum, however if this is the build quality of these drums then I can't say that I would buy again.

My son is very happy with the quality of this drum. He did replace the stock heads upon receiving it. It is the same snare used by his school marching band. The Sales department went out of their way to help us get a version of this drum shipped to us very quickly after finding that one with the options we originally ordered wouldn't be available for some time.

I enjoy the simple carriers and how high the belly plate can adjust. The drums are heavier but don't react as much to movement like competititors. The drums have a darker tone and sound very nice. The quads sound awesome too.

My school recently bought these drums and I love them. They sound great and feel great. They are a little heavier than the Yamaha ones we had before but not by much. They have great sound (similar to that of Pearl). I think that this snare sounds way better than Yamaha and Dynasty drums.
