An Excellent Instrument and Worthwhile Investment

Wow. Put simply, this marimba is a fantastic instrument. I've had mine for almost a month now and the sound is just incredible. The tone is very even across the entire keyboard and the different registers of the instrument blend well together. The low end is very rich - and loud! The bars speak immediately and carry a good sustain. This is not a rosewood instrument, and as such isn't priced like one. Padauk has a slightly different timbre with more of the higher end frequencies than rosewood in general. This padauk keyboard is the best I've ever heard - and better than some rosewood marimbas I've played in the past! Listen to the sample video in the Watch/Listen tab with a good set of headphones and really tune in. In my opinion, I don't think you hear much of a difference between the enhanced padauk keyboard and the traditional rosewood. Both enhanced options definitely have a sound that blooms forth from the instrument. Of the four models available, I really think this one, model E8202, is the best choice. If you can afford the price increase over the traditional padauk keyboard, without a doubt this enhanced padauk model is the one you should buy. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a more affordable, quality instrument.
