McClaflin/Crouse-Target Locked-P/electronics - Product Information
Target Locked explores the best of both worlds and brings concert snare and rudimental snare drumming into the recital hall while making the medium accessible to all audiences by grooving along with an electronic accompaniment.
The piece is divided into five sections. In the intro, the concert snare and track interact with one another and build to a drum set groove. The second section starts with the transfer to the field drum. Here, rudimental ideas are used while incorporating groove passages with the ride cymbal. The third section goes back to the concert drum. This section elaborates on ideas explored in the intro and pushes towards the final section. The fourth section is a combination of both concert and rudimental drumming going between the meters of 7/8 and 4/4 while using techniques suited for each drum. The final section concludes with a gradual fade to nothing with the concert snare continuing after the track dies out.
