Musser 3.0 Combo Vibraphone With Motor

I'm really happy I purchased my Musser M44 new through Steve Weiss Music. Rather than buying a used instrument and compiling various replacement parts, it was nice to find a reasonably priced new instrument, shipped directly to my home in a timely manner. The M44 is perfect for my situation: an experienced percussionist wanting to revisit and stretch out on a vibraphone. The modest frame size, light weight, and wheels are handy, but the look and quality out of the box are good so it feels "at home" in my home. The M44 has similarly-sized bars through the whole scale. It's taking me a little time to get used to narrow bars on the lower end, but I'm adjusting quickly and perhaps it will make my striking a little more precise in the end. Thanks, SWM team!

I bought my Musser M44 Combo used, and purchased springs, cord, and belts from Steve Weiss Music. First off, doing business with SWM is awesome. These folks are right on the ball. Secondly, if you are considering an M44, don't be fooled by the "student" designation. This instrument performs well above its price point. Granted it has a stripped down feature set, but the tone is sweet, intonation is spot-on, and the workmanship is fine. It plays beautifully with warmth, depth, and lovely ringing harmonics. It's a Plain Jane to look at, but its personality makes it a charmer. Bottom line: the M44 is a winner. Steve Weiss Music is a winner. So if you're going to buy it, buy it here and you'll most likely be happy you did.

This is a great instrument made by a great company and I am so glad I went thru Steve Weiss, a percussion dealer, instead of the huge online music instrument dealers. This is considered a "student" model, but its not, Musser makes professional quality instruments, and this is definitely one of them. I had a so called "comparable" instrument from another big name company, and this is so much better, its warmer, it projects more, and its actually more portable. This frame comes apart and folds up, the other one, you needed two people to get it apart and the legs didn't fold. If you want vibes, especially the "economy" model, go with Musser, they have been doing it for so long, and they are committed to us percussionists, they have been there since the beginning. This was a GREAT purchase, and the customer service at Steve Weiss was superb, they answered all my questions, it was nice to speak with percussionists for a change:)
