Naranjo/Yotere/Pendarvis-Fumaa Bwiche Naamwin Je (Score w/solo part)-Solo gyil/orch. - Product Information

Fumaa Bwiche Naamwin Je for gyil and orchestra was composed by Ba-ere Yotere, currently one of Ghana's foremost gyil virtuosi. At the tender age of 14 Ba-ere was invited by the late Kakraba Lobi to tour Japan, and did so with Kakraba again at age 17. Ba-ere wrote Fumaa after moving to Accra, the capital of Ghana, as an adult. The song says "You and I will go to the Great Chief (God) one Day". It is written in the style called "Darkpo" (men's music) and has a 12/8 swing feel that harkens to blues shuffle. It is orchestrated by L. Leon Pendarvis (or Blues Brothers and SNL fame), and was done in installments for approval from the composer while Valerie N. was in Accra. Fumaa Bwiche Naamwin Je was performed by Valerie Naranjo with the Enid Symphony in 2012 and 2016, and by Valerie with the National Symphony of Ghana during the August 2018 and June 2019.
