Nataraj 12" Tongue Drum - B Akebono (Red Sunburst)

This Nataraj 12" Tongue Drum is tuned to an akebono scale. Each tongue is cut to deliver a soothing but complex sound rich with layers of overtones and still having a strong fundamental pitch. A resonate hole at the bottom of the drum helps the projection of the instrument. The drum can be played in a lap or on a surface as well as by hands or with the included mallets. Rubber feet keep the instrument in place when being played on the floor or a table.

The Akebono scale is a musical scale commonly used in traditional Japanese music. Akebono and the Diatonic scale use the same intervals, but Akebono has no fixed tonic; as such, any Akebono note can be the tonic.
