Nataraj 16" Tongue Drum - C Major (Black Finish) - Product Information

This Nataraj 16" Tongue Drum is tuned to C Major. Each tongue is cut to deliver a soothing but complex sound rich with layers of overtones and still having a strong fundamental pitch. A resonate hole at the bottom of the drum helps the projection of the instrument. The Drum can be played in a lap or on a surface as well as by hands or with the included mallets. Rubber feet keep the instrument in place when being played on the floor or a table.

I was curious about Nataraj drums in other tunings, but settled on this one. I absolutely love it. I'm a beginner and it's very easy to get into. I was a little worried about quality because it's impossible to find one of these in real life and try it (the tiny one at Guitar Center -- not Nataraj -- is basically a toy), but this is a hefty 15 lb fella with amazing resonance. Good for therapeutic purposes. The included mallets are ok, I ended up ordering some yarn-wrapped ones off Etsy as well. Just be advised that 16" is probably bigger than you're thinking it is. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of if you have storage concerns or want it to be very portable (though the supplied carrying case is great and makes carrying it a breeze, I just wouldn't bring this on public transit).

Beautiful Tone

I bought this Black Friday special as treat for myself, and it was well worth it. This has a beautiful tone and easy to play. People enjoy listening to it and playing it themselves. This is a quality product and the service and delivery from Steve Weiss Music was outstanding as always.

Excellent Tongue Drum!

This Nataraj drum is well worth the money. Excellent tone. The drum produces a beautiful sounds with the lower notes sustaining their tone. With 10 notes there is a lot of harmony. The supplied mallets are good, but a little short, however, I find my "Vic Firth T-1" mallets a softer, peaceful pleasing sound. They are easier to hold too. Buy the drum. You'll like it.

Soothing and calming

I love this! I got this because my arthritis does not allow me to play the piano anymore. I'm finding it easy to pick up and the sound is just gorgeous. I play for 45 mins. Before bed and I sleep so well. Even my friends love when it, they " I feel so relaxed". I highly recommend it. And they price, are you kidding me. $100.00 cheaper than others this size. It came with mallets and a carrying case. In my opinion, a must buy.
