Ouzounoff-Borneo (SP)-M/BN - Product Information
The idea for Borneo came from my wish to associate two instruments made of the same material: palissander wood. More precisely it's the French Bassoon which is made with this African or Brazilian wood instead of the German system which is manufactured with maple wood.
The vision of marimba's wooden bars has also played with my imagination, reminding me traditional xylophone style instruments (Cambodgia, Thailand, Bali) or the African Balafon.
The piece is built on the idea that the Marimba can display more melodic phrases than rhythmic ones and to give to the Bassoon not only a melodic role but moreover a rhythmic responsibility.
