I spoke with Bill at Steve Weiss music who explained that most customers preferred to upgrade from the cymbals included in the Pearl package or use the cymbals they already had, so they offered this set without cymbals at a lower price for those customers. I have seen many comments that stated the cymbals included needed to be upgraded, so this makes perfect sense. If you want a great 4 piece set and have your own or plan to upgrade the cymbals, this is the way to go. Bill made sure I got a cymbal pack at a very fair price to finish out the kit. So thanks to Bill for making it right - I will definitely return to Steve Weiss Music in the future!

Very nice drum kit and Steve Weiss had it at my door in a few days, but the cymbals were not included. If you are comparison shopping for this kit, bear that in mind. If the cymbals are important (and what you expect to be included based on the picture on the Steve Weiss Music website and the Pearl information on the set), pay the extra $50 elsewhere so you are not in the position I find myself - trying to explain to my son why Santa didn't bring him cymbals... The full description on the Steve Weiss Music website does state (as the last sentence) that cymbals are not included, but I didn't read the full description because I had read the full description on the Pearl website, which states: "a new, complete drum set package with everything you need to start your rhythmic journey to the big time."

I purchased this kit for my school as a secondary kit for jazz band, drum set lessons, and pep band. Don't let the small or odd sizes of the shells fool you, this kit has surprisingly large sound in a very small footprint! Certain pieces of hardware are a steal for the price of this kit, however, the tom arm and cymbal arm could be higher quality. That being said, this little starter kit gets 5 stars in my review, and I will highly consider recommending this series of Pearl drums to my students who want a kit to have at home.
