Way too small, and the grip feels like it flies out of my hand, like how do you march with these when sweating? And for practice pads, forget about using a vacuum pad, that's a no-go. Definitely durable and perfect for chopping, and it'll stay in tact but that's if you ever wanna use it, I recommend for short but loud passages, you'll hear them but you won't wanna play with them, they're heavy and will make you sweaty, takes a lot of getting used to. If you love promark, go system blue. If you love aluminum, good for you but I would only recommend for loud passages and practice and home.

Why does drum corps use these?

I personally don't like this product. BUT, if you want a very loud sound, and if you dig the short mallet feeling, then go on and get this product.
