I love using the remo skyn heads on my toms. They provide an articulate, punchy attack while preserving the drum's gorgeous tone. I would recommend to anyone for general use.

I have used them and have mixed feelings. They look great and tune well, but sometimes seem boxy-sounding. On the other hand, I have played drums with calf heads, and they sounded similar, so I dunno. Can't help but think man-made heads might really BE an improvement over skin..?

Remo heads remain, in my view, the best overall heads in terms of sound, tunability, and durability. The Fiberskyns have a full and warm sound unlike many plastic heads that have a phwapp type of sound. I replaced the heads on a classic 60s vintage Ludwig kit with Fiberskyn 13" and 16" heads. They sound rich and full, especially in a jazz context.

I use a 12" and 14" Fiberskyn on a classic Gretsch BroadKaster kit (circa 1950).They sound great with a subtle warmth.
