In addition to its larger than normal size the Ron Vaughn Percussion 14" Thunderbird Tambourine offers a massive 42 pair jingle configuration. This allows for a large very accentuated tambourine sound across the entire dynamic spectrum.
At soft or very soft dynamics, articulate finger rhythms on the skin or rim of the ThunderBird deftly penetrate densely throughout concert halls and recording studios. At rising dynamic levels the ThunderBird can accelerate into tremendous volume levels, depending on the creative/composed needs and application for truly large, highest-quality robust sound.
The plit level solid shell is steam bent and features a bearing edge similar to that used on snare drums allowing for an ideal head surface tension and voice that, in the hands of an experienced and skilled player, produces an amazing spectrum of sounds. Thumb rolls for days.
