I was trying to find a practice pad, because I could not practice loud passages on my apartment, and the practice pad I had before this one, was way to "fake", didn't feel like a drum.
This practice pad is very nice for loud and soft playing. It's not exactly a snare drum, but the rebound is fairly close.
It has a nice design, sturdy, kind of heavy, but that's ok.

I had seen these Quiet Tone practice pads in the past but always used gum rubber and marching style practice pads. After years of private teaching I finally decided to get two and set them on top of the concert snare drums.
I don't know why I didn't do this years ago. They fit fine, sound great, feel great, can be used for brushes, and even allow a snare sound to come through if you want. I don't know how the 10" pad would work on a 14" drum but they don't move around and are extremely well built and functional. The only possible disadvantage is that they add a little height to the drum for younger students. I don't think that is a problem with the way the kids are growing like weeds. The students also like the way they feel and sound.
