Great budget-friendly option!

Comments:

These mallets deliver a more mellow sound on xylophone, and a strong (but not harsh) sound on auxiliary percussion. I recently used these for a performance of Charles DeLancey's "The Love of L'Histoire", and they held up super well! The piece calls for mallets that provide a "resonant" tone on drums and a "crisp" tone on wood blocks, and they fit the bill perfectly, without being too strong and breaking my calfskin tambourine. Better still, they survived many weeks of daily practice with nothing more than a scratch! I would strongly recommend these for anyone looking for a budget-friendly aux. percussion mallet. To my ears, these are very similar to Mike Balter 4s, but a little bit cheaper. However, despite being in Salyers' "entry level" series, these are nice, high-quality mallets that will serve any percussionist well.

Quiet, warm tone.

Comments:

If you want a warmer tone for your xylophone, the E60 will get the job done. However, this is a very quiet mallet so if you're looking for something projects, you might want to opt for the E70 hard rubber model.
