Great buy

Comments:

The Salyers Etudes are a fantastic bargain compared with the 700+ marimba mallets available. For the price, the quality is top shelf, great materials, and quality and they sound great. I would recommend these (10, 20, 30) to any college percussion student or serious HS school players.

Durable and Warm Sounding for the price

Comments:

I just wanted to get a cheap graduated mallet set (A Pair of E10's, E20's, and E30's) about a year ago and I have enjoyed these mallets for 4 mallet solos and ensemble performances. As a graduated mallet set, a Soft, Medium Medium, Hard setup works well but my only complaint with these mallets would be how hard the E30's are in comparison to the other mallets. The top voice in that setup sticks out more than I like but the E30's are great for 2 mallet solos in the upper register of the marimba. They are a little heavier than the Vic Firth Van Sice mallets I have but they are pretty smooth feeling for birch handles and the yarn shows very little wear after a year! For something this cheap, they are worth the price and you might consider buying 2 pairs of E20's to get a more balanced 4 mallet setup of Soft, Medium, Medium, Medium for pieces that don't require a top voice to stick out. Hope you enjoy these mallets as much as I have!
