I'm a fan of old-school gum-rubber pads - even though they might not be the best simulation of a real drum head, they feel great and are fun to play on. So after being disappointed by the very popular RealFeel pads and their clones, I was curious how silicone would be to play on. Quick answer: it's GREAT! If anything, this pad is even springier (hey, it might be a word) than a traditional gum rubber pad (such as a classic Gladstone or a VF HeavyHitter). And the pooltable-green surface is pretty cool-looking, too. All in all, this pad is an absolute pleasure to play, and I'm a firm believer that practicing should be enjoyable. And the price is reasonable, too. Verdict: two sticks up!
