Latin Percussion Handbook

Comments:

I met Don Skoog in the year 2000 in Havana while taking a two week hand percussion course. Don had already been going to Cuba to study for a few years and has continued going each year since. His book has all of the rhythms that the percussion masters were teaching. Don has methodically transcribed everything that he learned. I highly recommend this book.

A Methodical Course in Latin Percussion Technique

Comments:

Don Skoog has broken down conga and timbale technique into straight-forward, comprehensive sets of techniques that teach the beginner and intermediate students fundamental technique, Latin rhythms, and concepts, as well as challenge the advanced percussionist with technical exercises for one, two, three, and four drum conga set-ups. All musical examples are presented in a concise manner, and each page is packed with excellent information.
