Ok price. Would have liked to see a bit bigger wind gong at this price. Although very shiny, there were a few scratches on the bottom of the gong. The sound was excellent, but the sustain was a bit shorter than expected. That was fine though because I was using it as a thunder sheet. Those are way too expensive for what they are. The wind gong had just enough depth that I got some very low sounding thunder sheet sound out of a smaller area. And didn't cut myself handling the edge of the gong either like I certainly would have with a piece of nasty metal. The bag is nicely built but a spare wide pocket would have been nice to put mallets. These gongs used to be quite a bit cheaper, but I guess those days are gone. This is a good value since they included the case.

Overall very happy with my Weiss 22" wind gong. However the hanging string it shipped with was way too thick and severely damped the sustain of the gong. I was initially so disappointed in the tone I was going to send it back, but luckily using thinner cord fixed the problem and now it sounds excellent. Also the included gong bag was good quality. An excellent instrument overall, and great value, but you might want to try a thinner hanging cord! Also the "SW" lightly etched into the surface of the gong looks a bit tacky, but I was able to buff it out easily.

What a great gong! Lively, colorful, awash with overtones. I love it. And to get it with beater and soft case for only a little over a C note is an unreal bargain. Bravo to Mike and the other guys at Steve Weiss Music for offering this gem so reasonably.
