Bazelon's Suite for Marimba is one of the first pieces that I commissioned (1980) and is an adaptation of two other Bazelon pieces: Partnership for marimba and timpani, and Imprints for piano. In four movements (slow, fast, fast, slow), c. 8 minutes in duration, and for 4.3 marimba, the Suite incorporates Bazelon's typical rhythmic complexity and explosive energy contrasted with moments of lyrical repose.
