Swirling Light In The Mist By The Sea by Julie Spencer is a four mallet solo scored for 4.5 octave (low F) marimba. The perpetual motion of this energetic piece is reminiscent of the ever-changing seashore climate of the Pacific Northwest. The mist is awe inspiring, the idea that something as powerful and vast as an ocean could be hidden underneath something so ephemeral and nearly transparent as vapor. The colors of the water and sky intermingle in the constantly swirling light of the blue gray mist over the sand and rocky cliffs. Duration: 8 minutes.
