For the price of a tambourine this is crazy good. I have a black swamp 2 row tambourine and then I saw this tambourine when I was buying other stuff. It's not the best all purpose, however it has a niche use and if you want a decent priced tambourine for more niche uses then i'd fully recommend.

Pretty decent for the price. More of a toy or practice instrument, or perhaps primary school band item. Sounds okay. Very light - I wouldn't trust a younger child not to punch through. Difficult to do a finger/thumb roll.

Jingles are decent; extremely dry and quiet, but bland. The cheap parts are extremely light, which is nice given the increasing weight of concert tambourines. The lighter weight allows the player to use a much lighter touch and gets a quicker response from the instrument. It is also easier to maneuver it around much more quickly. The fewer number of jingles/absence of many of the features of nicer tambourines is very noticeable with this thing. Shake rolls take a little getting used to after playing Grovers for a few years due to the smaller size and uniform jingle slot size. The head will pull given the slightest weather changes, and given the softness of the wood, I don't know if I would want to put the time and energy into trying to rehead it for fear of damaging the shell. I'm going to try and protect the head with a treatment next time.
I have taken to replacing some or all of the steel jingles with jingles from Grover's jingle packs. I'm particularly fond of the heat treated copper and I recently saw Chris Lamb wielding a slightly higher quality, but equally nameless single row tambourine with the heat treated silver. He also was quietly outspoken about the advantages of a lighter tambourine over a heavier one.
What I have taken to doing with these is replacing the steel jingles with jingles from grover's jingle packs. This greatly increases the volume of the instrument, but also gives it a spectacular sound.
