Bebop 500's better for me than the bb550's

I have been playing jazz since the mid fifties. These sticks are similar to many I have used over the years, but right now at age 80, I find them to be perfect for small groups. I like to play softly, and these sticks allow me to do that while still using enough stick velocity to get the feel I want. I can get the ride cymbal sounds i want, and the price is reasonable. I also use the Vater bb 550 sometimes. These are heavier, but similar. The 500's are harder to find, but, in my view, worth the effort.

I love Vaters!

I love Vater sticks! I've used a lot of Vic Firth sticks in the past, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly (pun intended) but I like Vaters better. These sticks in particular are fantastic for quiet playing. I play a lot of community and school music theatre and I can play as softly as I need to with these.
