These sticks are great for when you need a quick mallet/stick change. Balance is good. Mallet end is great for cymbal rolls and toms as well. Have used them for two weeks and no issues.

solid, versatile mallet/stick for multiple uses
Comments:
This 5a/staccato mallet combo works well for me when I play church pieces that require timpani and suspended cymbal with no time to change sticks in between. The mallets have enough warmth for rolls and enough definition for many passages, with the possible exception of the most intricate pieces. Nice product and good value.

Very versatile and highly functional
Comments:
I used these sticks to play a production of Candide where I played drum set, timpani, and suspended cymbal frequently which would have necessitated many stick changes. I had actually been playing the rehearsals for the show with sticks, A. Putnam timpani mallets, and Ron Vaughn sus. cam mallets and ordered these sticks to replace them for logistical reasons. They worked super well for all of the drum set and suspended cymbal stuff and the louder staccato timpani parts. I still used a pair of rollers for timpani rolls but these were great otherwise.

VIC FIRTH DUAL TONE STICK/ MALLET
Comments:
This is a wonderful product! I especially love the fact that the weight of the felt end does not make it difficult to play with the drumstick end. Further, the felt end isn't overbearing. Just another reason to keep loving Vic Firth!
