The Vic Firth American Custom T4 Ultra Staccato Timpani Mallets produce the clearest rhythmic projection of the felt models. Vic Firth American Custom Timpani Mallets are turned from a single piece of rock maple, which eliminates a core that could rattle and the need for a screw-on washer to secure the head. Length: 14 1/2 inches, Head = 1 3/8 inches.

I was really pleased to find that these mallets are still available. I got a pair perhaps 40 years ago, but they got damaged, so I needed to replace them. The new ones are even cooler than the originals, and still top quality.

Great Mallets

The Vic Firth T4 Ultra Staccato mallets are a great decision to get. They pull the sound out of the Timpani extremely well. If you want a quick note response with great sound they are great for short and quick passages. They don't sound as harsh as the back of timpani sticks and they really sound great. Very durable unlike ultra staccato felt mallets these will last you a longer time. For students that are shy of playing I highly recommend because these mallets are very loud compared to felts.
