I have been on a long search for a drumstick that can cover "everything". I don't like several different models of drumset sticks in my bag for different styles, volume, etc. Everytime I tried a new stick, I always wound up back on a 5A diameter (0.565).That diameter feels the best to me. I also needed something slightly longer than the standard 16" length. I decided that 2 factors were going to end my search: 1.0 The stick had to feel great when playing and 2.0 The tip had to have the right sound. Typically, Im always drawn to the sound of a barrel tip, but Ive had issues with tips chipping, so I needed a good sounding tip that was durable. I usually stay away from nylon tips, just because I prefer the sound of wood, but in this case, these really make a difference in projection and clarity. So, despite the green paint, these are it!!!

Like most drummers on the look for that perfect stick, I had been reviewing many of Firths models. I originally was playing with the original Weckl stick, but they started feeling too light and I wanted something beefier in the handle. I prefer wooden tipped sticks, but constant chipping and wear was frustrating. Could not decide on the tip I wanted, so I let my bandmates decide!!! We reviewed the Garibaldi Jam Masters, the Weckls, wooden tipped 5As, but the Band loved the nylon tipped Dejohnettes on the cymbals!! They FEEL great, and they are durable with the nylon tip. Check these out! Great balance! I use these exclusively for heavier Rock, and R&B gigs, and the wooden tipped ones for acoustic settings.

Loved the original JD wood tip model, and love these just as much if not more. They are my new favorite stick. Just PERFECT!
