Once again a well priced Chinese gong from Steve Weiss Music that sounds wonderful. It sounds a lower pitch than most of my gongs in this size range. When struck hard it has a interesting blend of fundamental tone & modulating wash as it decays with a breaking high end. Buy it now. Boom, for real!

Got one yesterday and I love it. Mine sounded dead-on like the samples, but don't listen to those and think this is a one-trick special effect. One can go from nearly pure pitch (dead center) to a full feng-like crash easily on this while conjuring as little or as much pitchbend effect as desired, and one can do it with mallets, drumsticks, hands, anything. A moderate strike produces a nice complex tone with less splash, very similar to a pasi gong. It's loud and dynamic, projects well (I actually had to back up the overhead mics after hanging this), and really lets you control the sounds through your technique and playing implement. The ma xi seems like it can easily find a niche in any percussion setup. What's left to say? Dig it!

I love gongs and I love Steve Weiss music!The discriptions and sound samples can not do justice to the gongs you offer.The 12" Ma Xi is much louder and fuller than many other gongs of the same size.The initial attack is bright with a very strong lower fundamental taking over.The sustain is extremely long lasting despite its small size.
